Attached you will find the Calendar for the School Year 2010-2011 (Tentative)

1. Tuition: Please, remember to send tuition payments before the 10^th of each month. If you are behind, please, bring your account up to date. Also, we would like to remind you that during the month of May, the first payment for next school year (August) must be paid. This payment should be made with the new rates for next school year.

2. Placement for 2010-2011: Let me remind you that placement for the school year 2010-2011 will be based on the previous years’ assignment and upon the recommendation of teachers and/or administration.

3. First Penance and First Communion: We congratulate all of the students who made their First Penance on March 9 and those who will receive their First Holy Communion on April 24 and May 1. We want to thank Mrs. Galbis, Mrs. Ruiz and Mrs. Gonzalez for helping to make these occasions such memorable ones.

4. Chrism Mass: Our Mission Club will attend on Tuesday, March 30 of Holy Week, the Chrism Mass presided by Archbishop Favalora at the Cathedral of St. Mary. It is always a beautiful experience.

5. Stations of the Cross: We want to thank Mrs. Elsie Lastra for preparing our students for the Stations of the Cross. On Monday, March 29, they will do an outstanding job and add to the prayerfulness spirit of the Holy Week. We extend our gratitude to Mrs. Gonzalez and her choir.

6. Operation Rice Bowl: Thanks to your efforts and sacrifice, we will be sending a donation to Operation Rice Bowl. We thank Mrs. Bustillo for having coordinated this endeavor and all the teachers, parents and students for their support. We also thank Mrs. Cindy Perez and the Mission Club.

7. DAANS Awards: We would want to congratulate Gabriella Garces, Lazaro Quintero and Anthony Robayna who will be receiving the DAANS Awards on April 21.

8. Florida Mathematics League 2008 Results: The results for the Florida Mathematics League Contest for 2010 are the following:6^th Grade: 1^st Place: Sophia Kaskavalciyan, 2^nd Place: Alicia Mota, 3^rd Place: Paul Calabrese and Carlos Perez Fuentes, 4^th Place: Nicholas Perez; 7^thGrade: 1^st Place: Daniel Verdear, 2^nd Place: Amanda Rodriguez, 3^rd Place: Sophia Salas, 4^th Place: Kevin Cruz; 8^th Grade: 1^st Place: Diana Lopez, 2^nd Place: Alexa Gonzalez, 3^rd Place: Nicholas Hernandez, 4^th Place: Andrea Delgado. We are very proud of our students and we commend them for their hard work and effort. Congratulations to all and to their Math teacher, Mrs. Escandar, for a job well done.

9. Instituto de Cultura Hispánica Awards: The following students have been awarded the “Don Quijote de la Mancha” academic award by the Instituto de Cultura Hispánica: Andrea Delgado, Xiomara Del Corral, Felipe Egoavil, Alexa Gonzalez, Talia Gonzalez, Diana C. López, Tiana Martinez, Norma Daniela Martino, Cristina Meléndez, Tiffany Trujillo. Mrs. Julieta Corzo, our Spanish teacher, will be awarded the academic order award “Don Miguel de Cervantes”. The awards will be given on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. at the Manuel Artime Theater, 900 S.W. 1^st St. We would like to congratulate Mrs. Corzo and her students.

10. Sports News: We would like to congratulate Coach Oharriz, Coach Tarratsand all the coaches and all the students who participated in the 2009-2010 sports season. The teams final standing are the following: Cheerleading: At Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School on January 8: Cheer Chant Competition: Jr. Varsity – 3^rd Place, Varsity – 4^th Place; On February 5: Dance Competition: Jr. Varsity – 4^th Place, Varsity – 4^th Place; On February 19: Cheer and Dance and Chant Competition: Jr. Varsity – 1^stPlace, Varsity – 4^thPlace; Tri-County Competition on March 19 at St. Brendan High School: Jr. Varsity – 1^st Place , Varsity – 2^nd Place; Basketball: Primary Boys: 3^rd Place; Jr. Varsity Girls – 2^ndPlace; Jr. Varsity Baseball-3^rd Place; Varsity Baseball-Playing(2-2); Girls Softbal-Playing(1-1); Spring Volleyball-Playing (3- 0); Track and Field: ACC Championship on March 13: Primary Boys: 8^th Place, Boys Junior Varsity: 6^thPlace, Boys Varsity: 3^rd Place, Girls Primary: 12^th Place, Girls Junior Varsity: 10^th Place, Girls Varsity: 3^rd Place.

Field Days: We want to thank Coach Oharriz and Coach Tarrats for their hard work in organizing our Field Day. As usual, the students had a great time.

Sports Awards: Sports Awards for the school year 2009-2010 will be given on Monday, April 12, 2010, during morning exercises at the beginning of the day.

11. Crowning of the Blessed Mother: Our school will participate in the Crowning of the Blessed Mother ceremony on May 3. We would like to thank Mrs. Lastra for preparing this beautiful ceremony.

12. Reading with the Smarts and the Book Fair: We want to thank all the teachers who took part in the Reading with the Smarts especially Mrs. Maria Elena Jude who coordinated the events and Mrs. Ballate and her team for their hard work in our Book Fair.

13. National Junior Honor Society (NJHS): On Friday, March 12 the following students from Sts. Peter and Paul School were inducted in the St. Joseph Chapter of the National Honor Society: 7^th Grade: Anna Ballate, Christina Cano, Amanda Castro, Raquelle Crotty, Kevin Cruz, Karolina Hernandez, Gabriela Huerta, Annemarie Jude, Cristian Llop, Camille Mena, Julie Morales, Amanda Rodriguez, Anthony Rusch, Sophia Salas, Cruz Santiago and Daniel Verdear; 8^th Grade: Xiomara Del Corral, Andrea Delgado, Alexa Gonzalez, Talia Gonzalez, Nicholas Hernandez, Diana Lopez, Tiana Martinez, Christian Melendez, Cristina Melendez, Laura Pena, Elissa Sanchez, Liselle Schmitt, Karina Sequera and Tiffany Trujillo. We would like to congratulate all of them and their moderator, Mrs. Vicky Alvarez.

14. Scholastic Challenge: Every year our 8^th grade students participate in a nation wide academic contest/ranking. We would like to thank Mrs. Vicky Alvarez for coordinating this activity.

15. Mini Book Fair: We will be holding a mini book order on May 5 and May 6 especially for the Summer Reading list. If you want to pre-order the books, please, fill out the attached form and give it with the money to your child’s teacher.

16. Census: We want to thank Mrs. Jocie Zlatkin who is coordinating Census Day at Sts. Peter and Paul School on March 30.

17. Art Show: The Art Show will be held on Friday, April 23, 2010 during the school day until 6:00 p.m. We would like to congratulate all the students that will participate and Mrs. Rescaglio, their Art teacher.

18: Alumni News: We are proud to announce that Christie M. Gonzalez, Antonia M. Simms and Lorena P. Delgado are in the second quarter Honor Roll list at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy. Congratulations!

19: Dear Parents: As always, every school year brings progress, adjustments and changes. This year has been no exception. We have aimed to bring progress in continuing the tradition as we strive to grow, to expand and to work towards academic excellence and spiritual enhancement, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School’s ultimate goals. We aim to offer the best possible education for every student in our school according to his/her needs and abilities. The adjustments have been made by all of us thanks to the cooperation of the administration, faculty and staff, parents and students working for our common goals. The changes have been the result of serious discernment where the Lord has been the guide in the decision-making process. As the school year 2009-2010 comes to a close, I want to thank the community of Sts. Peter and Paul for their support and encouragement. I will be remiss if I fail to thank our Pastor, Reverend Juan M. Lopez, for his unfailing leadership and for his commitment to the Church and to the school. As we look into the future, we thank the Lord for His past blessings and ask Him to continue to bestow on all of us His peace and His love.

Adjunto encontrará el Calendario para el Curso Escolar 2010-2011 (Tentativo).

1. Cuota Mensual: Por favor, recuerden de enviar sus pagos antes del día 10 de cada mes. Si están atrasados en sus pagos, por favor les agradecemos que los pongan al corriente. Además, deseamos recordarles que deben de pagar el primer pago del siguiente año escolar (agosto) durante el mes de mayo. Este pago es por la cantidad referente al siguiente curso escolar.

2. Asignaciónes para el curso 2010-2011: Permítannos recordarles que los estudiantes serán situados para el curso escolar 2010-2011 basado en las asignaciones de años anteriores y en las recomendaciones de los profesores y/o de la administración.

3. Primera Reconciliación y Primera Comunión: Felicitamos a todos los estudiantes que hicieron su primera Reconciliación el 9 de marzo y aquellos que recibirán su Primera Comunión el 24 de abril y el 1o. de mayo. Les damos las gracias a Mrs. Galbis, Mrs. Ruiz y Mrs. Gonzalez por ayudar para que estas ocasiones sean memorables.

4. Misa Crismal: El Mission Club asistirá el martes 30 de marzo de la Semana Santa a la Misa Crismal presidida por el Arzobispo de Miami, John Clement Favalora, en la Catedral de St. Mary. Como siempre, será para todos una hermosa experiencia.

5. Via Crucis: Queremos darle las gracias a Mrs. Lastra por preparar a los estudiantes para la representación del Via Crucis el lunes 29 de marzo. Todos harán un trabajo extraordinario que ayudará al espíritu de oración de la semana. Extendemos nuestra gratitude a Mrs. González y al coro de la escuela.

6. Operación “Rice Bowl”: Gracias a sus esfuerzos y sacrificios enviaremos una donación a la Operación “Rice Bowl”. Le damos las gracias a Mrs. Madeline Bustillo por coordinar este empeño y a todos(as) los(as) maestros(as), los padres y estudiantes por su apoyo. También deseamos darles las gracias al Club de las Misiones y a Mrs. Cindy Perez.

7. DAANS Awards: Deseamos felicitar a los estudiantes Gabriela Garces, Anthony Robayna y Lazaro Quintero, que recibirán el premio DAANS el 21 de abril.

8. Liga de Matemáticas de la Florida: Deseamos felicitar a todos los estudiantes que participaron así como a su maestra de Matemáticas, Mrs. Escandar. (ver sección en inglés)

9. La señora Julieta Corzo, nuestra maestra de español recibirá el premio de la orden académica “Don Miguel de Cervantes”. Los premios serán otorgados el domingo, 25 de abril del 2010 a las 9:30 a.m. en el Teatro Manuel Artime. Queremos felicitar a la Sra. Corzo y a sus estudiantes por hacer tan buen trabajo.

Premios de Deportes: Si el tiempo lo permite, los premios de deportes del curso escolar 2009-2010 se entregarán el viernes, 12 de abril, durante las actividades de la mañana.

Field Day: Les damos las gracias a Coach Oharriz y a Coach Tarrats por el duro trabajo de organizar nuestro “Field Day”. Los estudiantes, como siempre, la pasaran muy bien.

11. Coronación de la Virgen María: Queremos darle las gracias a Mrs. Cindy Perez por preparar nuestra ceremonia de la coronación de la Virgen María que se llevará a cabo el 3 de mayo.

15: Scholastic Challenge: Nuestros alumnos del octavo grado particípan todos los años de una competencia/calificación a nivel nacional. Deseamos darle las gracias a Mrs. Alvarez por coordinar esta actividad.

16. Census: Deseamos darle las gracias a Mrs. Jocie Zlatkin por coordinar en Sts. Peter and Paul el Día del Censo el 30 de marzo.

17. Art Show: El show de arte se llevará a cabo el día 23 de abril del 2010 durante las horas de escuela y hasta las 6:00 p.m. Deseamos felicitar a los alumnos que participaran y a Mrs. Rescaglio, su maestra de arte.

19. Nota de la Dra. Morales: Como siempre, cada año escolar nos trae progreso, ajustes y cambios. Este año no ha sido un excepción. Hemos tratado de progresar mientras continuamos con nuestra tradición tratando de crecer, expandirnos y trabajar por alcanzar una mayor excelencia academica y espiritual, siendo estas las metas de la escuela Sts. Peter and Paul. Nuestro objetivo es ofrecer la mejor educación posible para cada estudiante de acuerdo a sus necesidades y abilidades. Los ajustes se han hecho possible trabajando juntos para alcanzar las metas gracias a la cooperación de la administración, de la facultad y de los empleados, y de los padres y de los estudiantes. Los cambios han sido el resultado de serio discernimiento en donde el Señor nos ha guiado en el proceso de tomar las decisiones. A medida que el curso 2009-2010 termina, deseo darle las gracias a la comunidad de Sts. Peter and Paul por su apoyo y entusiasmo. No debo faltar en darle las gracias a nuestro párroco el padre Juan M. Lopez por su liderazgo de siempre y su dedicación a la parroquia y a la escuela. Mientras miramos hacia el futuro, le damos gracia al Señor por sus bendiciones pasadas y le pedimos que continue bendiciendonos a todos con Su paz, y Su amor.
